Rear Entry
The rear entry position or “doggy style” position is said to be good for g-spot stimulation. It involves the woman being down on all fours. The man enters from behind, standing or kneeling behind the woman. The woman can use pillows to support her stomach and chest, especially during later pregnancy.
A variation of this position, the “leap frog,” has the woman resting her arms and her head on the mattress. The woman kneels on the bed with legs spread wide, and falls comfortably forwards as the man enters her from behind. He can then caress her back and control the depth of thrust. This position is ideal when the woman starts to feel uncomfortable with the man’s weight pressing down on her and she wants to protect her belly from over-enthusiastic thrusting.

Spooning
Often, during the last portion of pregnancy, spooning is a favored position. Both man and woman lie on their sides, with the man in the back, facing the woman’s back. This position keeps the weight off of the abdomen, and keeps penetration shallow, as deep penetration is sometimes uncomfortable later on in pregnancy. Avoid lying on your right side in this position.
A variation of Spooning is the side-by-side sex position which allows for more equal physical contact than spooning, but penetration can be a bit trickier. You can cross your legs over each other’s and this may help. As with spooning, this position can be very comfortable as no one is feeling the weight of the other partner’s body. |

Oral and Anal Sex During Pregnancy
Well, both oral and anal sex is safe during pregnancy as long as you take the proper precautions. Make sure that your partner is free from any STDs before you engage in any type of sexual contact. Use a dental dam during oral sex and a condom during anal sex. However, there are some safety issues with sex during pregnancy.
Women who have history of miscarriage, or danger of miscarriage should abstain from any type of activity that results in orgasm; since the contractions of the uterus could be risky.
- Be sure to take anal sex especially slowly, to prevent tearing any rectal tissues.
- If you are engaging in oral sex, be sure your partner does not to blow air into the vagina as this could cause an air embolism. This is when air blocks certain blood vessels in the vagina, preventing proper circulation. This is a potentially life-threatening condition for both mother and baby, so be sure to guard against it when participating in oral sex.
Figuring out pregnancy sex positions requires some creativity and lots of pillows. It may also mean abandoning penetration if it isn’t working, and finding other ways to please each other. Most of the above positions prevent the mother from lying onto her back, which is generally prescribed by the doctors as well. Plus they are a lot of fun!!
