Sex during pregnancy!! Myths Busted



Sex during pregnancy!!! That raises eyebrows among many, doesn’t it? Many people think that intercourse during pregnancy is a strict No No, that it is not safe, however this is not true. In this post, we bust some myths related to sex during pregnancy.

Intercourse during pregnancy might harm the baby!

Sex during pregnancy is not harmful for the baby. The baby is well protected by the mucus plug, and uterine muscles and prevents your partner’s penis from coming in contact with the baby.

Also during orgasm it’s the vaginal muscles that contract. Your baby is safe in the uterus and hence not affected. Even oral sex during pregnancy can be quite harmless however make your partner doesn’t blow into the vagina, as it can lead to obstruction of blood vessels, which is very dangerous.

Intercourse during pregnancy is uncomfortable and uninteresting!

We don’t only disagree with you, infact you will be surprised to know that it’s quite opposite. Sex during pregnancy can be wonderful. During pregnancy your curves swell, making you irresistible to your partner. It also caters to your increased desire for physical affection.

You can try following positions of intercourse during pregnancy to make it comfortable and enjoyable as well –

Women on Top – This position takes the pressure off of your abdomen, and also allows you to control the speed and the depth of thrusting.

Missionary on the Edge – For this position, the woman lays on her back at the foot of the bed with her knees bent. She should perch her feet at the edge of the mattress. The man then either stands or he kneels in front of her.

Other positions that be tried include, spooning and doggy style.


Follow these precautions while having sex during pregnancy:

During first trimester of pregnancy you will feel too nauseated to be interested in sex. Communicate this to your partner. Instead of having intercourse, you can enjoy cuddling each other or ask your partner to give you a massage. Also it is advisable to avoid intercourse during the first 14 weeks of your pregnancy.
